Our Mission

The Medical R.E.N.E.W.A.L. Program (Re-allocating Equipment is Necessary to Eliminate Waste and Amplify Leadership) is an initiative designed to create passionate student leaders capable of developing sustainable solutions to medical waste. Surveys indicate that hospital staff recognize the growing issue of medical waste, but lack the knowledge and initiative to combat this problem4,5. The Medical R.E.N.E.W.A.L. Program focuses on equipping tomorrow’s leaders with the tools and confidence to tackle this problem through mentorship and community engagement. Students in this program work with hospital administration and department chairs to collect unused, overstocked, and unneeded supplies. After organizing and cataloguing these goods, students work with leaders of organizations that provide medical attention to the underserved community to deliver supplies in a timely manner and provide care. We hope that this project will become a leading cause in efforts to address waste in the medical field, forge engagement with underserved communities, and produce compassionate and capable leaders.
